Mistev Core Training
Induction Programs

This mandatory training bundle provides all Mistev personnel with the essential Health & Safety knowledge required to work safely, legally and confidently within our operating environments, including slaughterhouses, FBOs, government premises, office settings, and remote working roles.

The modules in this series cover the core responsibilities placed on employees under UK Health & Safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, RIDDOR, COSHH Regulations, Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations, DSE Regulations, Fire Safety legislation and relevant sector-specific requirements.

Learners will develop a strong foundation in practical workplace safety, risk awareness, legal duties, accident prevention, reporting procedures and safe working practices. These modules ensure all staff understand how to protect themselves, colleagues and the public while working for Mistev.

This course series is mandatory for all Mistev staff and must be completed in full as part of the company’s onboarding programme and annual refresher cycle.

Each module includes a short instructional video, interactive learning content, and an end-of-module quiz. A certificate of completion is issued once all modules are passed.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course series, learners will be able to:

  • Understand their legal responsibilities under UK Health & Safety law

  • Recognise common workplace hazards and how to avoid them

  • Follow safe working procedures across office, field and food-industry environments

  • Maintain personal safety in high-risk areas such as slaughterhouses and FBOs

  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses correctly

  • Use equipment safely, including display screen equipment and manual handling tasks

  • Contribute to a positive safety culture within Mistev

Induction Programs
In this unit, you will go over the procedures on Leave and Absence, mainly on:
  • Annual leave and rules applied;
  • Holiday periods;
  • Special holiday periods;
  • Special Leave;
  • Time off in lieu (TOIL);
  • Absence and Sickness;
  • Use of the self-certification form and medical certificates (sick notes).
At the end of the unit, the employee is to state that he/she is aware of the policy/procedure and that he/she has read and understood the content of the policy/procedure.

FSS OV Course

The aim of this course is to give a detailed insight of the official controls performed in meat premises in Scotland, in accordance with Retained Regulation (EU) 2017/625 (on official controls and other official activities performed to ensure the application of food and feed law, rules on animal health and welfare, plant health and plant protection products) and Regulations developed after this, laying down specific and uniform practical arrangements for the performance of such official controls. 

Although this course is the original FSS OV course, is only being shared through our training platform, to widen audience and create awareness of the official controls carried out in meat plants by both Official Veterinarians and Inspection Teams.

Accessing and/or going through the course will not grant the required qualification to work as an Official Veterinarian in meat plants. Qualifying theoretical training is to be completed with the Competent Authority in Scotland (Food Standards Scotland) or through an approved University (i. e. Bristol Veterinary School of Bristol University).
